Description: Male has brownish cap, red in front. Red chest and rump with brown streaks on belly. Female and juveniles are brown streaked all over and lack distinct eye patch.

 

Sound: Not yet available

Food Source: House finches will often be seen at the feeders eating sunflower seeds, wild bird seed and thistle. Occasionally, they will also eat suet and woodpecker cakes.

 

Nesting Habits: House finches will nest in trees as well as bird houses.
