Flicker:
Description: Male Northern Flickers have brown barred back, black spotted underparts. They have a black mustache, along with a black v shaped bib. Gray cap with red streak on backside of head & tan face. Females look like the males without the black mustache

Food Source: Flickers will visit your bird feeders eating wild bird seed, suet cakes, and Woodpecker cakes. They will also forage the ground and trees for insects and worms. Nesting Habits: Flickers will nest in hollow trees, or very large bird houses that are filled with sawdust to simulate a dying tree. Be aware that Starlings will also try and nest in the Flicker house. Keep an eye for Starlings spitting out the sawdust. :) They do not like it!
