Description: 8 3/4"  Males have Shiny black bodies with bright red patch underlined by yellow on shoulder. Females are dark brown above and streaked below. Will occasionally show a hint of red on throat or wing

Food Source: Will eat from feeders in moist areas. They will eat wild bird seed, sunflower, and corn.

Nesting habits:   Although Redwing Blackbirds prefer the vicinity of water, their nests are often found on dry uplands, sometimes at a considerable distance from any water body. The majority of redwings build their nests in tall grass, cattails, or weeds. Nest height ranges from 2-4' from the ground. Redwings eggs vary greatly, their shell is finely granulated, bluish green, and moderately glossy.  Eggs are spotted, blotched, and streaked, or marbled, with different shades of black, & brown.
