Thrasher:
Description: 11½" Brownish- red head, back, tail, and wings, followed by a heavily streaked throat, chest and underside. Wings have light buffy streaks. Long brown beak for probing for insects. Yellow eyes Sound: Very beautiful sound... but not yet available Food Source: Occasionally see under the feeders sifting through mulch. Thrashers also eat insects, acorns, other berries Nesting Habits: Nest of the thrasher is developed in layers. The first layer consists of twigs, usually from four to twelve inches long and from 1/16 to 1/4 of an inch in diameter. The second layer is composed principally of dead leaves. A few pieces of paper, thin bark, and tiny twigs were sometimes used. The third layer is composed of tiny twigs and grass stems. The fourth layer consists of well-cleaned rootlets, mostly from grasses Nest can be seen from ground level to 15' but primarily 2-7' from the ground.
